It took me some time to see the attraction in the Rogue lite games, but it was finally gone from a big word to the one who attracts my attention. When I heard that the French developer Shirt Games (creator of England) had created not only a rogue lite, but also a co-op rogue lite inspired by Diablo, I knew I had to take a look at it. From the first moments of the trailer, Clarksburg immediately hung me and after talking with the developers, I am more than excited to dive into this city ravaged by the zombies.
The premise is simple: the sweet little town of Clarksburg has been invaded by the undead and those who have survived are fighting for their homes — and their lives — epic and rogue lite. Clarksburg is offered with five characters in choice: Sister Abigail, the nun who is not afraid to hit the enemy with sacred fires, Runoff The Adorable Aubergine with his giant spoon, pink The premium hunter with his Tamil, Twig And Va rag the Wolf Group who came out of his cell. And the fifth playable character? Dr. Dolores, the mysterious doctor of the plague that recalls a medieval doctor of TF2.
So, why should you be excited by Clarksburg? Because after only a few minutes of play, it's easy to see the real love of love that has entered its production. These characters will interact with each other with a special exclusive dialogue according to their relationship. Rose was the one who caught and locked up Va rag, then they will glow and insult while defending against the horde. Abigail and Runoff are friends and will support each other. The levels generated procedurally are absolutely huge and encourage exploration not only to obtain valuable curiosities and level up to improve your benefits, but also to take up entirely random challenges and discover the bottom frame and the history of the characters in exploring all corners and crannies. Although they were built with an archetype in mind, the benefits and curiosities that you discover can help refine each character to your play style, whether a tank, a DPS or a healer.
It's a beauty
Apart from stellar gameplay, it's really nice to watch. He argues that destiny and sadness to be a city infested with living dead without being incredibly dark. The characters are memorable and intentionally fill up a fantastic cliché role that always makes them full of personality. I am also a fan of how the game manages the line system / war fog. What you can see is illuminated, but made in a natural and fluid way, as if you are roaming in the streets at night, and you could only see what a lantern shows you. This adds to the depth of the level, and what more, there are five districts to explore and survive.
