Long enough we are already waiting for a successor to UbiSoft's extreme sport game "Steep". "RIDERS REPUBLIC" was announced in 2020 on the then Ubisoft Forward Digital Events, but with the speiled release at the beginning of the coming year, it became nothing. Instead, "Riders Republic" belonged to the many games that were postponed in the course of the Corona Pandemic and the associated home office change up to indefinite time.
Good news: "RIDERS REPUBLIC" lives and was presented at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo with fresh gameplay material on the Ubisoft Forward. The game will be released on September 2, 2021 for PlayStation 4/5, the Xbox device family as well as PC and Google Stadia. If you want to go to the start before, you can register online for the beta.
We were able to see a longer look at "Riders Republic" before the Ubisoft Forward. And after the ambitious, but moderately fun "Steep", Ubisoft seems to write much bigger this time the fun sport.
The whole world of extreme sports
The team behind "Riders Republic" refers to the game as a "massive multiplayer playground". The multi-play component thus assumes a major role here, such as in "Steep" or "The Crew 2". The story behind the sports spectacle reads Simple: You take a young extreme athlete who wants to be the best in the republic, so the name of the fictitious large events.
The open game world itself is not a real state, but consists of a variety of different scenarios or national parks. Ubisoft built places like Bryce Canyon, Yosemite Valley, Canyonlands or Mammoth Mountain based on real topography and merged into a huge park.
Funsport events are already taking place in many of the original locations, accordingly, the merger of these locations offers a tremendous variety of different landscapes. The offer ranges from snow covered mountains, over deep canyons to juicy green meadows and forests.
Open-world brand ubisoft?
On the map shown during the presentation, little surprisingly tons of tons of symbols with different tasks. These can be events, but also landmarks, hidden objects or other tasks. In short, there are always something to do in "Riders Republic".
As a massive multiplayer Game, it refers its long-term motivation from extensive customization options. During the time, you will get new outfits, costumes and even bizarre mobile trials. At least we see in the presentation as a pilot struggles with a packed rattler bike over a mountain.
Otherwise, however, "Riders Republic" offers a true wealth of different sports such as downhill biking, snowboard, ski, wingsuit, paraglider or jetpack. In addition, you can also walk or go through the area with the snowmobile. For each of these sports there are your own event and career paths in "Riders Republic".
For more authenticity, Ubisoft cooperates with various organizers and binds them into the game as large events. For example, in the Red Bull Rampage in Downhill, you get over narrow and equally steep mountain paths. These events and other "boss" events will probably be the highlights in "riders republic".
Multiplayer focus and change between the sports
In terms of game modes, Ubisoft moves heavy multiplayer guns in the early preview round and emphasizes the community features. In Tricks-Battle, two six teams are measuring themselves and put together the best moves and combos on the courses. In free-for-all, you even pick up all the playlists and in the versus everyone opens against each other.
For the most impressive pictures, however, the mass start race with up to 50 participants caused. When this mass goes to the start of sports fans, the wild chaos burns around placements. This hunting for the best places is extremely funny and shows on top of that, to what "Riders Republic" is also technical to do.

When exploring you can change the sport at the touch of a button at any time, but in races, however, these are done on key points - similar to "The Crew 2". For example, you start with the rocket backpack and switches to the downhill bike lightning fast. Also very nice: There is an optional first-person perspective. And that has quite in it because of the tempo and effect density. If you perform about the bike tricks in the air, the game seems to automatically switch to the pursuer view and jumps back into the ego view when your floor has under the wheels.
How dominant will be the multi-play component and whether "Riders Republic" makes sense for soloists, must show. In any case, "RIDERS REPUBLIC" begs for the moment before Funsport and could thus be the game that may have hoped for some of "Steep". Further news about Preview, Riders Republic, preview.
