Subnautica: Krafton plans to take over the studio

Krafton, Inc., known for the global success title PubG: Battlegrounds and the upcoming AAA title The Callisto Protocol, today announces its decision to take over Unknown Worlds, the maker of Subnautica.

This recent decision continues the expansion strategy of Krafton. It aims to invest in high-profile talents that evolve, show innovation and want to create new experiences. Unknown Worlds will be the sixth independent studio of Krafton and thus involves a group of experienced developers like Pubg Studios, Striking Distance Studios, Bluehole Studio, Risingwings and Dreamotion.

Unknown Worlds will bring a great risk of experience in the development of community-driven gaming experiences at KRONSON. The studio founded in 2001 by Charlie Cleveland and Max McGuire developed the popular Half-Life-Mod Natural Selection, which later received a commercial sequel.
